Trilogy Equipment Aids in Katrina Relief
Date of Story: July 2005 During the recent devastating Hurricane and subsequent flooding in New Orleans, Trilogy equipment has been a key part of the relief effort. With all fixed communications infrastructure out of action, the National Guard flew in four of their IC4U tactical communications units from California. These mobile trucks use Trilogy's Mercury IP communications to provide interoperability between disparate radio systems being used by the many relief agencies brought in to help. In addition, the IP satellite reachback capability allows communication with the Central Command headquarters set up to manage the emergency. The use of Mercury greatly enhanced the effectiveness of communications to the point that some units were redeployed to Texas in anticipation of Hurricane Rita. |
