Trilogy Communications Supplies Thales Air Operations

Date of Story: May 2008

Thales is the latest major defense contractor to select the Mercury IP communications system from Trilogy Communications Ltd. The company is to supply a networked Mercury system for use with a number of Thales ViaSat MIDS LVT terminals located around the Netherlands. These MIDS terminals will then be linked together to provide encrypted airborne fighter communications via a ground based WAN throughout the country.

Trilogy will provide Mercury Interface Units (MIU’s) equipped with radio interface boards which provide COR and PTT functionality as well as the audio communications connections. The whole Mercury network is controlled and configured over the WAN via a touchscreen “virtual control panel” which runs the Mercury Configuration Editor.

Mercury is a peer-to-peer technology which offers high reliability as there is no single point of failure. In addition, it is a COTS solution offering rapid deployment and excellent value for money.
